- Every year during Advent, around 700 stars hang over the old town of St.Gallen. St.Gallen thus becomes the star city of Switzerland.
- These Christmas lights are called ‘Allerstern’, short for ‘St.Gallen Star’. It symbolises Christmas and is also a modern landmark for the city. The connection between the star and the city is emphasised by the rays: each of the fourteen rays stands for one of the fourteen city districts. ‘AllerStern’ symbolically unites them into a whole and stands for a common, positive aura.
- The specially decorated Christmas fir tree on Klosterplatz, in the centre of the Stiftsbezirk, gives the Sternenstadt an additional festive Christmas glow.
