(h)änne und dänne – The Untersee as an Art Space

Cross-border open-air exhibition featuring contemporary artworks along the shores of Berlingen, Gaienhofen, and Steckborn.

The Untersee communities of Berlingen, Gaienhofen, and Steckborn share a common history. This cross-border project aims to recall and revive these connections through contemporary art. From May 1 to September 27, 2026, a total of 23 artworks by 14 artists will be on display across the three municipalities. The works were selected by a professional jury from 116 submissions. The vision is to bring to life the connections between both shores through site-specific art projects. All artworks are installed along public paths and are accessible at all times. Visitors can explore the exhibition on foot, with the option to combine the walk with a scenic boat trip across the lake.
