Liechtenstein’s National Day is the public holiday of the Principality of Liechtenstein, celebrated annually on 15 August as a combination of the Feast of the Assumption and national tradition. The day begins with an official state ceremony on the meadow below Vaduz Castle, followed by a large public festival in the town center featuring stage performances, market stalls, and dedicated zones for children and young people. In the evening, beacon fires are lit on the surrounding mountains, a torchlight procession takes place along the Fürstensteig trail, and a spectacular fireworks display illuminates the sky above Vaduz.
A tradition since 1940 with strong political and cultural significance; the official ceremony includes speeches, a reception (apéro) and a blessing, while the public festival offers a varied entertainment program throughout the day.
