Bad Schussenried

Bad Schussenried, Germany

Visitors are often amazed by the diversity of cultural and natural activities they find in central upper Swabia. This is a place some have called a 7th heaven along the Baroque Route. We are located close to Lake Constance amid rolling farmland, lakes, rivers and forest where you can follow in the footsteps of the visionary pastor and Renaissance-man Kaspar Mohr and the whimsical legacy he left in art, music and flight! Immerse yourself in the centuries-old drinking cure (beer included) and bathing culture here in Bad Schussenried.

Beloved Bad Schussenried is situated between the Danube and Iller rivers and Lake Constance, directly on the Swabian Thermal Bath Route and the upper Swabian Baroque Route. Starting at the Bad Schussenried Monastery, the library hall is one of southern Germany’s most beautiful pearls. The attached museum is an important cultural center that houses a permanent collection, changing contemporary exhibitions, and diverse cultural programs.

If you’re looking for entertainment to match every taste and whimsy, you might explore  Schussenried’s Adventure Brewery, located in the town center with Germany's first beer stein museum. Thirsty visitors with a good appetite should investigate! Down the road, the open-air museum village Kürnbach includes 32 historic buildings and workshops with artifacts spanning 500 years. Close by, you won’t want to miss the world’s most beautiful pilgrimage church in Steinhausen. Bad Schussenried is also a proud member of the international CITTASLOW network of communities dedicated to Slow Food practices that began in Tuscany, Italy.  There are currently 13 Slow member-cities in Germany who honor traditional and sustainable farm, food, and lifestyle practices. Life is good in Bad Schussenried.
