The new 53-km-long premium “Lake Shore” hiking trail from Constance to Überlingen is one of the most attractive footpaths around lake Constance following lakeside promenades, winding forest tracks and deep gorges, boasting a magnificent and almost ever-present vista over Lake Constance and the Swiss Alps. From Constance, the signposted long-distance walk begins by passing through the shady Forest of Mainau to Dingelsdorf. It continues through the enchanted Marienschlucht gorge, over the hills of the Bodanrück peninsula with its fascinating views and back to the lake at Bodman. Anyone making the steep climb to the Haldenhof is rewarded with breathtaking views over Lake Constance. The trail then leads through the Hödinger Tobel gorge to the final destination in Überlingen. Visitors can return to the starting point in Constance by boat or bus. This tour takes hikers around the lake in three stages of between 13 and 18 kilometres (8 and 11 miles).
01. April 2017 until 31. July 2017

Type of trail
The trail primarily follows well-made paths. In the Marienschlucht and Hödinger Tobel gorges, the trail involves narrow paths and steps. A minimum level of sure-footedness is required. A certain level of fitness is also required for the climbs.
You will stay in selected hiker-friendly 3-star hotels.
Arrival and departure
We recommend arriving in and leaving Constance by means of public transport. If you are travelling by car, you can park in Constance.
On the first stage, you will pass by the flower island Mainau which is well worth the detour, and not only for flower lovers.
